RH mirror on a 63 F85

I know the car didn't come with one, but I would like to install due to a difficulty I have with twisting to look behind. Just curious if anyone else has done this. I'm a little leary about putting some extra holes in my door, but knowing how scarce this sheet metal is, more so of hitting something.

I don't have a solution for you. I checked the parts catalog. They show a manual and remote control outside mirror for the '63 F85, but only for the left side. I'm assuming that means that they are not interchangeable to the right side. Some mirrors for the older full size models were interchangeable. Perhaps someone with a '63 F85 may have found a solution and will respond.

As Ozzie said they don't list a right hand side mirror but it may be worth a try and look over the left hand side very closely and see if by chance if it is ambidextrous.

If it is make sure if you mount the right hand mirror that you don't mount it like the left hand side (measured holes) but put it where you can see out of it. Often it will end up being a inch or more to the rear of where the left is mounted.... Tedd

Jim Noel done this on his 62. I know the mirrors are different between 62 and 63 but I feel you could do the same. I believe he had to sand the base down at a slight angle that was opposite of the original to get it to sit right. After he was done, it looks factory.

I went ahead and ordered a mirror, the manual for a 63 f85. I was thinking that the location was going to be little different, I'll have to get my son to position it while I'm in the drivers seat. I've had a few close calls backing up, so this should help. Thaks to all for the input.
