I can't wait to hear your results. I've never been an Edelbrock fan-always a Holley fan. This just seems awful intriguing.

Are you going to compare it to another carb?

Saw a write up on these sometime back. They sure incorporated a lot of interesting ideas.
It will be great to see what you think.....

With no choke how well would that work on a daily driver?

Yes I’ve done over a dozen pulls on the build shown, a 403 with a 750 Brawler. I’m having issues with the Brawler carbs lately, even the better ones. So I thought I’d grab one of these.
And I’ll be doing more testing on my Edelbrock headed mule anyway so I thought why not.
But the 850’s and 950’s won’t be out till early next year so to do one of these on a big block will have to wait.

Once it’s warmed up I would think it’ll work just fine.
There are 4 air bleeds per throat. So these should yield an incredibly flat fuel curve. We’ll see.

I once had a Holley 0-1850 600 cfm that someone milled the choke air valve stuff off. The engine fired right up even on cold days, but wouldn’t drive until it ran a few minutes and warmed up. I guess it was rich enough at idle that it didn’t need the choke air valve.

Here you go gentlemen.
Both were done at the same temp and timing.
Brawler has over 20 pulls on it, this was the best one. Edelbrock has just two, with just 1 power valve and jet change. There’s a bit more in it I’m sure.
I’ll take the 20 extra lb-ft of tq any day.

Any reason the oil psi is different? Not that I'd equate carb change to oil psi, but still.

Brawler pulls still had the Driven BR-40 in it. I changed it to 20W-50 VR-1 afterwards.

Impressive, can you show the wide band readings between the 2?

Yes, good question, that was next😉. I have 2 wide bands but the left one isn’t calibrated correctly. However you’ll see that, apples to apples, they’re very close between the 2 carbs.

I’m going to post on FB as well but;
4.390 Racetec piston, 9.8:1 comp
Molnar 6.125 rod
330 crank
My halo
222/228@.050 hyd roller, .555/.560 lift
RPM intake, port matched
New Edelbrock heads, just trued the surface
Taylor HEI

This build was done 5 times before, by two different other guys. It failed quickly every time for various reasons. I have almost 25 pulls on it, I really flogged it. Runs great.

And a correction. The numbers posted for the “Brawler” are actually for my QF Dyno carb. Here’s a pic of it.
The Brawler took a tremendous amount of time to get right, and was about 3-5 numbers below the QF.

As you can see, air/fuel didn’t vary more than a couple of tenths throughout both pulls, QF vs Edelbrock.

Yes, bad sensor. That’s why I drew an arrow on both the right side O2’s. Apples to apples.
