Hey gang. So I had pulled the original numbers matching engine with only 38k on it cause I found a rebuilt freshly painted engine from a 68 cutlass with 4bbl for $1000.00. Was a steal. She runs good but I stare at my original engine and think about boring it out and all that good stuff but keep the original look. Any central jersey olds engine guys out there that wanna maybe take this on/talk about my options??? It's no rush and the person could take their time of course. The engine that's in it now which maybe has 4k on it would be for sale/can be traded towards the rebuild if possible. Ok let's hear what you guys have for me. You haven't steered my wrong ever!

olds 307 and 403

I take it the head gasket failed on that cylinder. Most 350's have very thick cylinder walls, they can go .100" over. A sbc 400 piston and rod might work great on that block and be much stronger.

Yeah I was actually hoping to not bore it cause I have a rebuild kit already with stock pistons but we'll see what has to be done. Looking forward to having soneobe look at it and go over options.

No way that will hone out and even .030 might not be enough, pretty rough looking.

What dish are the replacement pistons? If they are big dish, you don't want them anyways.

Alright. Got it down to just crank, rod, pistons. Also here is a pic of the pistons I got back in the day with rebuild kit. If it needs to be bored out, so be it. Hopefully I can sell these. They are flat top, no dish.
