'67 Toronado Tranny won't engage after filter change

After changing the filter and gasket in the TH425 the transmission won't engage until it's completely warmed up and then it needs to be revvved up to engage. The intake pipe/filter doesn't seem to "snap" into place like the guys at the parts store say it should. The o ring in in place. Any suggestions?

Thanks

1. Get your filler tube properly engaged in the transmission body. It doesn't snap in but should press in firmly and then be retained by the bolt through the hole in the "flag" higher up on the tube.

2. Check your fluid level and add fluid until you have enough in there.

3. Welcome to Classic Olds!

Thanks, I didn't realize there was a bolt that helped retain the tube. I'm going to head out there and put it back together. I'll let you know how it goes..Thanks again!

Yes - somewhere along the length of the tube is a tab or "flag" with a hole in it, and there should be a ¼" (or was it 5/16"?) screw through the hole in the middle into the back of the engine, which holds the tube in place from side to side, but also holds it down in the hole, so the O-ring can seal it.

Oh, I wasn't clear on my problem. I was referring to the the fluid pickup tube/filter assembly. The one that came with the new gasket. Sorry.
