69 442 barn find! :) 225 75r14 or 235 60r14?

Hey. I just got my 1969 442 convertible running after 31 years. (story to come later).
The tires hold air but are shot!
So I plan to keep the car basically the way I found it but will go through all of the usual mantainence to make it safe to drive.
I am trying to decide between running whitewalls or putting on some BFGs or the like.

My two options:

SS1s with
225 75r14 Whitewalls
235 60r14White letters or black wall.

I also have the SS11?
Same tire options.

The car came with SS1? that are 14x6.
I do want to put on a set of 14x7s I also have. I also have a set of 15x7s SS11 that I thought about using but I really like the SS1.

Opinions please. And pics?
I am leaning towards the whitewalls.
Thank you.

I never liked whitwalls on styled wheels. Your car, your choice.

As for tire size, original tires on a 69 442 were F70x14s, which have a 26.25" outside diameter and an 8.30" section width. 235/60-14s are a Honda-sized 25" in diameter and leave an inordinate amount of daylight in the wheel wells. 225/70-14s are nearly identical to the originals at 26.4" diameter and 8.86" section width. They will look MUCH better. Get redlines.

Thanks for the Reply.
Did the car originally come with whitewalls?
I will have to look up some redwalls to see what they look like.
Thanks again.

Standard equipment on the 442 was redline tires. Whitewalls and blackwalls were optionally available.

Thanks again.
Those look pretty good! Wide ovals were an option too? With my 14x6 SS1s the car probably came with redline or whitewalls?
Have you seen many 69s with build sheets? I haven't looked through my car yet. I am still learning about Oldsmobile's.

Again, standard equipment was F70x14 redline wide ovals, per the STANDARD EQUIPMENT columns in the page I posted from the 1969 SPECS book. What your particular car came with could have been standard redlines, optional black walls, optional fiberglass belted redlines, or optional G78x14 whitewalls. There is no way to know short of finding the build sheet, which is unlikely but not impossible.

I also think 225/70R14 redline tires will look the best. You can go a 215/70R14 on the front for a more staggered look. Here is a 235/60R14 on 14x6 wheels on my 70S.
