installing cruise control on 70 cutlass
Looking to see if anyone has a picture of the speedometer cable passing through the firewall. The instructions say drill hole at dimple next to the accessory grommet, cant locate the dimple.
Any pictures please?

I would think the cable from the cruise control would go through the firewall where the current speedo cable goes. I am going to put cruise in my 75 Hurst Olds this winter. I got most of the under hood stuff when I bought the car. I have recently purchased the turn signal switch and the off/on switch and bezel that goes on the dash. I have the shop manual but no instructions for installing the cruise control. I don't think it is going to be a problem though.

No the cables are different lengths, the instructions are clear a hole must be drilled into the firewall. The original cable enters from the bottom of the firewall the replacement cruise cable enters next to the accessory grommet.

My '69 4-4-2 has factory cruise control. Here is a pic of where the cable from the speedometer to the transducer passes through the firewall. It is just to the driver side and low to the brake booster. I don't know if it's the same for '70.

Thanks. That is probably the same or similar on the later models. The real PIA is going to be getting to the back side of the speedometer. At 77 and several extra pounds, it is going to be a lot harder to get up under the dash.

Thanks John. It is going to be a winter project. Of course winter projects in Texas are a little different since we tend to drive our cars year round. I have to go to the warehouse and get the box with all the other parts in it now that I have the switches. I have the LED lights for the cluster which it needs.

I didn't mention in the picture I provided that my '69 is a 4-4-2 convertible. It's heavily optioned, including A/C, pwr windows, auto trans on the console, pwr disc brakes, pwr steering, AM/FM stereo, SSI wheels, rally pack and even front seat shoulder belts.

Kool very nice, but I have a hood lock release, so the accessory grommet has the cruise vacuum hose, the electrical cable for the top and the hood lock release so it's full, so I need to drill another hole but cant located the dimple as per the instructions!!!
