Brake Booster Question

How critical is the location of the clevis on the booster attachment rod? The rod length on my new booster is longer than the old one from the end of the filter cover but I'm not sure where I should be measuring from. Also, is there any reason I can't replace the crappy clear plastic cover with the old flexible cover? The top of the plastic cover has already separated.

Very. Make sure the new one is at the same length as the original one. Measure from the booster mounting flange to somewhere on the clevis (just use the same location for both measurements, such as the flat were the threaded rod screws in).

The length of the rod and clevis position determines brake pedal height. The clevis needs to be adjusted so that the brake pedal is just up against the upper stop.

Thank you for the replies. It was 1/8" longer than the old one so I adjusted accordingly.
