Damaged442: That red 73' S is my favourite Cutlass from 73-77 era!
Tightly competing with 68'. For 69-72, ive never cared that much, which is pretty weird, since they are By far the most popular. Just dont look that good to my eyes.
Colour is also great. Welcome there.

76olds,
Subscribed! Hope I'm not diverting from your topic of current owners as I did sell my '77 this spring, but am definitely now a fan of several cars of that era after owning that one. As someone else mentioned what great cruisers, really cadillac ride quality - and the colonnade just grows on you. A few pics of my departed:

Seems like the 73-77's been growing in price lately?
My 76' 442 was bought from AZ 2014, at a price of $2400. That for sure was a bargain, even more considering its condition and originality.
Heres a pic of it at the condition i bought it:
Picture just lies bad from paint quality, its badly burnt, next winter ( 2017) its going to get re-painted, its already saved for, the cost of it.
Only thing i hate are those damned swivel bucket seats. Been wondering lately, would the regular seats ( not bench) fit on the same rails as swivels. They are just so bad to sit its not even funny. Of course i would save those in case i sell it some day, but until that, id rather have seats comfortable to sit.

Hey,
Good to see you guys posting here on ClassicOlds. I hope we can grow our little fan base here and share all that was over @ the 73-77 site.
I have a couple things on the back burner that may help our weasy V8's in the future, just a slow progress at the moment haha.
Hoping to see many more 73-77 olds guys here in the future.
Cheers
Eric

Okay, thanks for very through-out explanation.
My seat belts are flawless. And both sides the upper and lower reels are also working good. Didnt know that even they differ from others. Lol im having very uncomfortable treasure then..
Hmm, seems like my options are pretty Limited if i want to keep it close to original, meaning that i could swap it back to original By just changing parts..
Funny, my drivers seat cover is split just as you described.
You happen to know solution for problem i have? The seat-belt holders on my buckets were loose and were disintegrating all the time, so i bought new holders from The Parts Place. Same problem still- when turning the seat, every now and then they come off from their seats, the loops where the belt runs, and i have to install them again. They are loose even when new. Ive tried to install small, un-noticeable taps to spread the loops against "holders", but still im having the problem of them to come off every now and then.

Aha okay. I have square ones both at upper and lower position. New ones- but i just ordered them as what i already had at the car- 4 squares. And yeah, that "peg" was the word, and ive tried to use them too, but they just pop out every now and then as you described- so seems like a screw-time for me too

Some really cool sweet looking 73-77's out there.
Here is mine;
'76 Cutlass Supreme. It has 53k original miles with one paint job, triple black with gold body strip, 350 4bbl 350 trans all original, power windows and locks and twilight sentinel lights. No cats with custom dual exhaust. This is a 3 time National Show Winner. Four time Quad State Winner and many others. The only pics I have on hand have my two girls sitting side by side this year at a "Cars In The Yard" show local here in the Twin Cities.

FYI black 73 442
Just an FYI that the asking price on the black 73 442 is now down to $18000 USD. It started in the 30s two years ago. Time for someone to take a run at that car. $15000 would be an awesome buy on that car; see if the seller flinches.

Yeah there is an antenna there. It is not coming from the exhaust thou. It is a CB antenna that was used for cruising to communicate between cars. I have since taken it off as we tend not to chat as much while cruising and it seems that club cruising has gone down a lot since then. Good observation!

Here is my 77 black on red Supreme Brougham sedan but it's a mess now.
A few guys had asked to see photos of my 77 Cutlass Supreme Brougham sedan that my family ordered new with every option offered, power windows, locks, seats, power trunk, cruise, 8 track stereo, super stock steering wheel, sport mirrors, super stock rims, everything. We took delivery in May 1977. I'll never forget seeing the car for the first time before it was prepped for pickup. The beautiful red and gold pinstriped pillow Brougham interior was covered in plastic and there were newspapers covering the carpets, who knows why. I'll never forget the new car smell it had, better than any other new car smell I remember after that. The Brougham sedan was only offered for the final 77 model year of the classic colonnade body style. Total 77 Cutlass production was 632742 cars with only 16738 Brougham sedans built, the rarest 77 Cutlass model. I can not remember the last time I saw another 77 Brougham sedan, if ever. Here are some sad photos of the Brougham, locked up in the corner of my storage building where it's been sitting since 1988. That part of the roof leaked for a long time and did it's job on the car. I went into the back of the building just today and took these photos. I have not walked over to this area to see the car for years. The garage door where the car was pulled in is now blocked by trees and large bushes. I don't have the Heart to junk her so she just stays put. I feel ticked off about how I just let this car go as I took these photos today. I can't believe how she looks now. I have nobody to blame but myself. Life goes on and we forget about things that were once dear to us. I also included two photos of the car taken in the summer of 77 with my cat relaxing in the back seat and a photo taken of the car in December of 77. I sure loved this car when it was in it's prime... Oh well.

[QUOTE=Dan K;970057]76olds,
Subscribed! Hope I'm not diverting from your topic of current owners as I did sell my '77 this spring, but am definitely now a fan of several cars of that era after owning that one. As someone else mentioned what great cruisers, really cadillac ride quality - and the colonnade just grows on you. A few pics of my departed:
No problem Dan,
Thanks for posting the pics, The colonnades certainly do grow on you for sure. That was a nice looking 77 you sold.
Thanks for following along.
Cheers

I was going to rebuild my 455, add new heads, cam, etc. But then I realized, I'm no spring chicken, and as I've grown older I've also got money for someone else to build the engine for me. Mark (CutlassEFI) is building a motor for my '73. Initial dyno using a carb was done last week, there is more work to be done to it (port fuel injection hooked up/tuned) and get it ready for 91 octane, more dyno work to be done.

Here's the beginning. This is pre-EFI, using a carburetor for the initial dyno at 93 octane. Final results will be lower as it will be de-tuned for 91 octane pump gas and EFI usually slightly lower HP than Carburetor.

Did any of you guys who added true dual exhaust change your tranny cross member to a dual hump or did you just go under the single hump one? That is if you weren't lucky enough to already have a dual hump!! Just wondering how low it will hang if I run mine under the single hump cross member unless I can get lucky enough to find a duel.

I have true duals, with original "single-hump" crossmember. I can take pics when i go to garage next time, tho it could take up to month..
But describing by words, it hangs pretty low on the driver-side where it makes curve under the "single-hump" cross-member. So much, that for driver i want to be able to drive where-ever i want, i wouldnt consider to lower it AT ALL. And i want to lower it from front.
Thankfully, i monitored e-bay and this site for long, and at last found advertisement for correct dual-hump crossmember. Got it now cleaned and painted waiting for installation, and after that i go and get it to exhaust shop to straighten the kink on exhaust.

Some guys squash the pipe a little just to get the pipe up a bit higher. So you could always squash the pipe a little.
Hope this helps

I have a '76 Cutlass S Centennial Firethorn. Bench seat, crank windows, a low option car. 350 4 barrel. I wanted a clean, rust free vehicle that I could build my way without feeling bad about altering. It will get true duals with Thornton manifolds, Qjet replacing the Holley and a rear sway bar before putting it back on the street this spring.

Duals will wake your car up a bit, sounds like you have some plans for your 76. We will follow along with updates as you begin your mods.
We all like pictures, do you have any you can post?
