antenna replacement

Ball tipped end isn't a 'correct replacement'. The proper antenna for a '69 is the arrow tipped antenna whose body is somewhat flat (ellipse shaped) rather than round. It's a very unique part. It's reproduced but pricey. If you're looking for 'correct', that's it. You can put a much cheaper and easier to acquire generic antenna on the car and most people would never know the difference.

Did the whip just break off? If so, you should still have an antenna mount on the fender connected to a coaxial cable that goes to your radio. All you'd have to do is replace the antenna whip. Whether there was damage to the antenna mount or not you'll have to find a replacement from a parts car, or from Fusick if you want to use OE parts.

As mentioned Fusicks has an accurate 68 GTO reproduction which is visually similar to a 68 Olds, pn 402253. The main mast is a touch shorter than the Olds, Its overall length is shorter when fully extended as well. When its on the car only an expert will notice. (This was true 7 years ago. Call them they may have improved it, though it is a nice repro).
Another option is to source used OEM. I do see used antennas pop up now & then.
Place a want ad here and look at the classified section. I know someone had a few for sale a while back.
Aftermarket will take you directly toward chineasium junk.

How does the antenna fit into base - how is it secured. Again this is 69 cutlass convert front fender. It doesn’t appear to thread in or have a lock nut. Does the antenna just push into base that has coax cable
thanks
