fuel gauge wire

I have my new wire on my sending unit and am getting ready to install the new tank. Where should the wire exit off of the tank, front ,back, either side? I dont have the rear harness to tell where this should go.

You should say what vehicle you are working on so folks can give an accurate answer for your application.

My 1970 PIM diagrams leave something to be desired, but I believe they're identical to 1971.
