AutoRama Show / Dallas / 2022

The AutoRama show for 2022 took place the weekend of Feb 18-20.
Six cars from the North Texas Olds Club were on display there.
The weather on vehicle move-in day (Thursday) started out rainy, but cleared enough to enable all vehicles to arrive at/enter the show venue safely.
Except for 2021 (covid), the NTOC has participated in this event for the past 5-plus years.

Nice. Thanks for the pictures. I really like that SX ragtop.

NTOC used to participate every year. Back in the 80's we had a set of display rockets used to hang the ropes from to surround the display.

I didn't realize the rockets/ropes were used that long ago. The attached photo shows rocket stanchions/ropes used as recently as 2020.

I would guess the Dallas show is about 600 cars but that is just a guess. Tom may have some knowledge on that subject.

Tom, that is not the rockets I was talking about. The ones I mean looked like actual rockets. I think Pat Yancy ended up with them.

OK. Now putting 2 and 2 together, a club member stopped by our display at AutoRama 2022 and mentioned the rockets you're referring to. I moved to Texas (and joined NTOC) in 1989 and vaguely remember them.
More recently, I had been away from the club/hobby for a while until 5 yrs ago. When I returned, the rocket stanchions in the photo were in use, but I'm not sure when they were first used. Hence "5+ years" in my above post.
I do remember just after moving here our club being involved in a show at Will Rogers Coliseum in Ft. Worth. But I don't recall if it was "AutoRama" or another organization's event.

I was informed by the AutoRama registration staff there were about 300 entries at the Dallas event.
Seemed like more to me. I would have thought closer to what Glenn noted.

The Dallas Autorama has always been pretty small and some years have been much better than others. I missed it this year but heard it was pretty darn good, all things considered. I went in 2020 before everything shut down and it was a big let down except for the Pontiac guys and a few other cars. It was the first time I had been in many years as I’d been down in Austin for the last 6-ish before that. But I guess I’ll plan to attend in 2023!

Yeah. As in previous years our club display was in the smaller (north) portion of the building (feels a little like sitting at the card table for Thanksgiving dinner). It seemed to me there were more vehicles on display there than in 2020.
It is nice we were again located next to the main (center) walkway between the two building sections. Having total walkways around our display was nice also.
