Neg battery lead termination location.

Neg battery lead termination location.
Hi. Just a bit of background. ‘67 442 wouldn’t turnover. Turns out it’s poor ground / connections issue. Cleaned all connections except main ground from battery. I don’t think the neg battery terminal wire is attached correctly. It appears whoever put it on just bared the wire strands & sandwiched it between the power steering bracket mount & the engine block. It worked great for Probly 30’yrs but all those years & engine vibration has & I think destroyed most of the stands & they are broken. I don’t wanna take off the power steering bracket & don’t think the connection is correct any way so I plan to connect a new battery lead w an eye termination fitting directly to another bolt on that bracket a bit easier get too. Anyone think that’s a problem?

As long as the connection on the engine is mechanically and electrically sound, it doesn’t really matter where you put the ground connection.
You could use one of the empty bolt holes on the front of the cylinder head. Does one of the cylinder head bolts have a stud on top? If so, use that. Lots of options.
