Hey guys don't have any photos that aren't Olds related in your signature. ESPECIALLY if your car happens to have a Chevy engine it. The mods will just delete it. How mature is that?

Come one people, you R E A L L Y need to get a life if a photo of a non Olds engine offends you!!!

Good grief!!!!!!

This is as bad a RV.NET

Did you PM an Admin or Mod to find out who did it and why ??

I've had an LS7 as my avatar for a year or so now......
Email Omnicron if it's an issue.

IIRC your sig pic was pretty large. That may be why they took it out.

Although I admit as far I knew I was looking at an underhood pic of a Chevelle.

I will chime in to admit that it IS a bit annoying when reading through a thread to have to scroll past the same HUGE .sig pictures over and over again, often attached to one-line posts, which are lost in the "noise."

It's the main reason why I don't have any .sig file at all .

Well I guess I finally pissed you off and you deleted my signature photos.

How mature is that anyway? Are you so **** that a photo of a non Olds engine offends you? You are really one ate up person.

Glad that the Dixie Olds Chapter of Oldsmobile Club of America is not as **** as you are. I participated in their last BOP car show three weeks ago. No one there was offended because of the 468 BBC I've installed in my Cutlass. In fact, I got a trophy.

On this years Hot Rod Power Tour I was fortunate to be able to park with Dakota Digital in the vendor area for each venue every day of the tour. My car got plenty of exposure. I NEVER received one negative comment about the 468 install in my Cutlass. Or for that matter on the car either. ALL comments where positive. Only one person questioned why. I explained my reasons to him and he agreed with me. This person was a retired GM assembly line worker who used to work on the Olds line!

I've been an Olds enthusiast for many years. IF you are such an Olds purest, how long have you been a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America? What's your membership number? Mine is 510. Something tells me that IF you are a member, your number is much higher than mine.

I have never, ever told anyone on this forum that the Chevy is better than an Olds. I've never told anyone NOT to install an Olds motor. I have mentioned how easy the swap is. Just this last Friday I sold the 455 Olds I removed from my Cutlass. I sold it to a guy that's installing it into a Chevy truck. I don't drink the Olds koolaid like you do.

I've owned this car for over 44 years. Can you say that about your car? This is my car, my money. I'll build it the way I want to, not how you want me to build it. What I've done will extend the life of my Cutlass by many years, increased it value (professionally appraised for $33,000) and has greatly increased the joy of driving it. I've made changes to my vehicle, because I want to use it, drive it, enjoy it and not be worried about some friggin alternator diode date code. I'm very proud of my car, it's probably nicer than 90% of the POS others have here.

I have decades of experience with Oldsmobiles. I started back in the early 70's in the Parts department at JM Taylor Oldsmobile in South Gate California and then moved on to be a mechanic at the same dealership before being drafted into the military. But I guess that type of experience is not welcomed here, because I have, excuse me, HAD a photo of a Chevy engine in my signature. You don't care one bit about what I could bring to this forum. I don't tolerate anyone trying to force their ideas on me, nor limit my expression because of photo of an engine. I don't believe in being Politically Correct, that has ruined this country. Oh my God, I might offend someone with a photo of an engine. Your acting like I posted some **** or something.

You seem to think Oldsmobiles where the most fantastic vehicles EVER built. News Flash - they're not! They're just like all the other millions of vehicles that have rolled off production lines around the world. You have really got to get a grip. It's only a friggin Cutlass!!!!

By deleting my photos, I have lost all respect for this forum, and anything else associated with it. This form is nothing special, there are much better forums available than the tunnel vision your members have here. I don't understand why Oldsmobile owners think they are God's gift to the automotive world.

I suspect I'll never get to see your response here. Most likely after you read this my account will get deleted.

You really need to get over your fear of offending someone. How is this for politically correct?
You can take this forum and shove it up your "explicative"!

And just for you my parting shot. Does your engine bay look as good?

What is the reasoning behind this??? Let me tell you people something, this member has always been helpful and supportive, when it came to Classic Oldsmobile. This is uncalled for and very sad!!!!!!!

Did you know that there are other forums on the internet that welcome non-forum powered cars with open arms!!!! They are not condescending, rude, narrow minded, bitter people, looking to castrate anyone with a different idea than theirs. They are extremely helpful, no snide remarks, just guidance!

This forum is going the way of the dinosaur and will soon be extinct, just as Oldsmobile and as of late Pontiac has!! Let me tell you from personal experience, in my little town there was an Antique Club, due to their narrowmindedness 10 years ago and their attitude towards muscle and modified cars, their club is soon to be history. The reason, their short sightedness towards the future. Now there are about 10 members left, all 60++ in age, with older, unmodified, antique trophies!! Is that the route that you all want follow.

I like this forum, however I will not be involved in an organization a the few narrowminded, callous individuals, make the rules for everyone!!!

There are only a handful of Oldsmobiles that will ever be worth hi $$$$$, Most are ordinary cars, not extremely sought after, but none the less very cool, as they are different. What is the difference between a car that had it's whole drivetrain swapped for later model GM neutral equipment, but retained the oldsmobile powerplant and a car with a non-olds engine. In my opinion sometimes these old cars are worth way more with some of the non-olds mods as a completely stock plain old Cutlass.

This particular member has built a very impressive vehicle! Something he is proud of and others admire! He has shown the talent and expertise to make HIS, yes his vehicle what he wanted. He also chose to share his accomplishment with all of what he thought were his friends. So what happens, this! This is a very sad day here at Classic Oldsmobile, that it has come to this.

I hope the handfull of crusty, narrow minded, callous, selfish, thoughtless, egotistical, individuals are proud of themselves!!!!

Oh, by the way, I am also going the same route as Turnpikecruiser, and dropping in a BBC 468/ T400 in my OLDS!! For all of you who have a derogatory opinion of that, again it's my car, and my money!!!!

Just my .02!!!!!
Eric

There is a place in this forum for both modified and stock original. We need to do what ever we can to preserve the Oldsmobile name!!

I definitely don't agree with deleting someone’s sig pic because it has non-Oldsmobile material in it.

HOWEVER..... there should be a rule or size limit to any picture put in the signature. It is extremely annoying to see any picture size higher than a banner.

TC - I had nothing to do with any deletion, but the size was a bit much. I did not think one could even get a sig pic that big..
Also, tons of Chevy specs were listed but not the year or make of your car (unless I could not find them).

Your car looks way too nice to not have the year and model posted - It is one sleek machine.
Make your car photo into a narrow banner and reinsert it, along with the year and model. A one or two liner of the powertrain at the end is fine.

Attacking everyone here with a rant, does you no good. So, if that's your stance, then adios!

Your sig pic was removed because it was too large. We PM'd you about it and you ignored us, so we removed it. Having a Chevy engine in is has nothing to do with it.

Sig sizes is one of the forum rules that you ignored. Another is trying to start a fight or revolt via this thread. This may be hard for you to believe, but this isn't a democracy. You need to follow the rules like anyone else, and getting popular consensus isn't going to change things. Do NOT start any more threads like this or I'll lock you our of the forums. If you'd like to discuss this privately, PM me. End of public discussion.

For the rest of you who aren't trying to start a revolt Hosting costs are insanely expensive. Large signatures cost us both on storage space and bandwidth, and as some of you know, really slow down page load times for all of our other members. Sig size limitations are nothing new and pretty much universal to all internet forums. Please help us out by limiting yours. Heck the mods can even help you make them smaller if you ask. We're not against them, nor do we care that much about the content so long as it's not pornographic. But this size limits are something we try to stay on top of.

For the record that was me. We had just got this place calmed down with the Non Olds stuff from the week before and then every post made had a giant BBC powered Olds. I get dirty hate mail from the Olds purists because somehow I was labled as the guy that brought engine swaps and PT cars to the site and now this. Damned if I do damned if I don't.
