Jetstar 88 axle

I'll hi-jack. My 66 Jetstar has a 330 and the small A-body brakes and 4.75 bolt pattern. It has a 2.78 open rear, i assumed its an 8.2 bop rear. How wrong am I?

And why would you think that asking about the J88 axle was at all relevant to an thread titled "Rear Axle on a 66 Ninety Eight"?

And yes, it's the 8.2 BOP axle, The center section parts interchange. Obviously the housing is wider and thus the axle shafts are longer than on an A-body.

It's a six year old thread, the OP got his answer. There was lots of talk about what rears were available in 66 full size cars. All the info could have been on one thread for a future search from someone. I didn't figure anyone would cry about it..

Thanks for the clarification.

But the title of the thread still referred to a Ninety Eight. People don't realize that the thread has been resurrected and start commenting on the original question, not the one you were asking. Is it REALLY that much more work to just start a new thread?
