Brand depended on the assembly plant. 442s came with F70-14 bias ply redlines only. Note that the optional whitewall tires were NA with L78.

Says 7.75 x 14s were available. I have one car that has trailer towing from the factory and one car was used as a police cruiser.

Greg you have absolute proof with your Grandfathers paperwork. It may not of been part of the original package but you could obviously option it.

As Joe P pointed out the Whitewall 7.75 x 14 was not available (code P26) for 442. But the White Line 7.75 x 14 was... code N63.

The same code N63 your Grandfather was charged for even though the options list says no charge with L78...

And of course your paperwork calls them Whitewall which is a no go ...

Brands of tires were very rarely listed on vehicles' window stickers because the brand was ultimately determined by price of the contract, which could and did change.

The only window sticker I've ever seen to say what kind of tire was 84 Hurst/Olds and 87 Buick GN. Under the 1984 W40 package details, it specifically states "(QYH) 215/65R5 Eagle GT" tires. Goodyear was the only ones at that time making the Eagle GT, so it was implied brand only. I haven't seen any other window sticker to get even close to that, other than an 87 GN which stated "Steel Belted Radial Ply Eagle GT Tires" in the standard equipment list. Most tell the size and type of tire, but that's about it. There are probably others, but I haven't seen one depict a specific brand.Strange, it doesn't on an 83 Hurst/Olds window sticker nor 85-87 442 window stickers. Olds mostly just gave size and BW SBR with ROWL at best.

One thing I've learned a long time ago that factory literature/documentation can sometimes be incorrect due to errors or simply being out of date. I'm sure most of us here has experienced it. Especially when they first introduce a model, then put in the description what should be on the car or unavailable, then someone either didn't get the memo or changed their minds on an option/feature and presto, the car either had it when it shouldn't or didn't when it should. One example that comes to mind is the LG8 305-HO on the 85 442 build sheets. Should be a 307. No 85 442 came with a 305, so that's just chalked up as a typo. Another error is also on the 84 Hurst/Olds W40 package equipment details on the window sticker. It shows "Black Deck-Lid Spoiler" when they were supposed to be silver (a few 84s had black scoops and spoilers installed late in the game for some reason. Judy Badgely has those documented somewhere.) Copy and paste carryover error from the 83 Hurst information. One more silly thing- the 84 H/O initially was going to have a royal blue velour interior option as well according to the original Olds release bulletin and early dealer ordering books. But it got cancelled at the last minute. For years there were rumors of a blue-interiored 84 H/O running around, but nobody could ever provide any evidence of such an animal.

OTOH, I've seen where tire companies used cars in their own ads that the tire came factory-installed on cars. For example, the 88 Monte SS used tie-ins with NASCAR and Chevrolet, among many other car brands, to advertise Goodyear Eagle GT and GT+4 tires.
