Bracket Paint

Morning all,
Looking for opinions on the best rattle can paint for refinishing brackets under the hood . All will be media blasted and primed. Alternator, power steering, a/c etc. I prefer an "original" look rather than custom, powder etc. So I'm looking for something close to the original color AND finish Sheen. (70 455)
Thanks

I used the Eastwood 2K chassis black. It is a tough coating and holds up well.

I use a mix of ACE semi-gloss, gloss, and flat along with some SEM trim black (expensive at $15/ can or more) and some parts sprayed with ACE gloss black then cleared with Polyurethane basecoat/clearcoat clear on top to get a variety of finish colors and tones. Factory parts were painted from different suppliers in different shades and even different painting techniques. Some were sprayed, some were dipped. Some were 15% gloss, some were 90% gloss, etc. This lead to different parts having a wide variety of coloring even for a "simple" color like black straight from the factory.

Agreed. I noticed that the different brackets and different pieces had different blacks on them. Since I'm not really doing a by the numbers restoration I felt like just picking one black would be sufficient to clean things up in there as I go along.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I use all of the correct shades, application methods, or even colors/ finishes on all of my parts. I know of high end shops that keep 5 gallon buckets of each % gloss needed to dip the small parts in along with spraying all of the different blacks, etc. However, buying a few different spray paint shades (gloss, semi-gloss, black) and applying them where it makes sense to you will make your restoration look a lot nicer without a lot more effort.

For your application, X2 on the Rustoleum.

Also, It holds up best when baked on; get yourself an old dishwasher or something and bake the paint onto your brackets.

Sounds like a good job for this other appliance I've heard of. I believe it's called an oven. 😜

Slightly off topic. Is this low pressure side tube compromised? Crimped? Or were they built like this?

Where do you find one of those contraptions that will wash dishes and bake a cake at the same time? Sounds like a revolutionary idea!
