Woo, backup daily driver!

Bought a used 98 Tahoe for winter, a couple tows, and secondary car duties. Vortec 350, 4x4, Sport package, which I think is trim. Car drives well, engine pulls hard, new trans recently with cooler. AC works. Interior is nice, front seats a little worn. Bright *** red.

I got on it when evaluating it, it went to 5000 in second and didn't seem to want to shift, so I let off and it immediately dropped 2 gears into overdrive. I read this engine is factory controlled to 5600 rev limit, and the trans, I think a 700R4, seemed to let me have all the power I wanted as opposed to shifting to a higher gear. Anyone know how these should behave?

Minor fix-me's like some indicator lights and non working door lock cylinders. Got a decent deal on it, I think.

Pic of the thing.

Would like to know how that trans is supposed to behave. I'm used to non-overdrive GMs like TH350s and 400s. Thanks.
