1969 Cutlass Supreme cowl tag decoding help
I have owned my 69 Cutlass Supreme Holiday Coupe since 1987. She got me into alot of trouble as a teenager. I was hoping that you all might be able to help me to decode the cowl tag? I know the car was made in Fremont, CA, but that's about it so far. The VIN is 342879Z129237

It has bucket seats with a factory console. All of the interior is still gold. I bought it from a little old lady who had been the original owner.
Any idea about the numbers on the third row, after the build date code?

ST 69 = style/model year = 1969
34287:
3 = GM division = Oldsmobile
42 = model series = Cutlass Supreme
87 = body type = holiday coupe
BF = assembly plant = Fremont, CA
06478 BDY = Fisher body number (has absolutely no relation to the VIN)
TR 974 - interior color and front seat type = gold interior with bucket seats
B80 = exterior drip scalp molding
65 65 PNT = lower & upper body colors, respectively = topaz
04E = time build code = April (04), fifth week of that month (E), 1969
The other numbers are codes that perhaps others can answer but I do not know what they are!
Your VIN: 342879Z129237
The front part of it (34287) is as described above. the "9" is the model year (1969), the Z is the assembly plant code (Fremont, CA), and the remaining digits are the plant seuential number (i.e., theoretically, the first A body to roll off the assembly line was 100001, then 100002, and so forth. I have a '69 4-4-2 that rolled off that same Fremont line a few weeks after your car did (05C time build code) and its plant seuential number is 131299, or 2062 cars later.

I am hoping that I will wind up finding the build sheet as I work on it. At this time, I don't intend on restoring the car, but rather just trying to get it back on the road. Several years ago, I took out the back seat, looking for the build sheet to no avail. Probably wind up dropping the tank and see if it might be stuffed up there. I appreciate the info that you have provided.

Please create a separate NEW thread rather than piggybacking on a thread which is nine years old. You'll receive more PERTINENT assistance to YOUR cowl tag rather than a COWL tag which doesn't belong to you.
EDIT: Can you provide a BETTER image than the one you posted or at a minimum provide the EXACT numbers on the plate. We shouldn't have to GUESS. You should do the preliminary work.
