What Gear to use?

Hi i'm new to this forum and here is my question is I have a 1972 cutlass with a 455 in it. Here are some of the upgrades i have done to it Edelbrock performer intake manifold, TRW forged pistons, 770 Holley carb., Engle Cam, Hooker headers, HEI distributor and 8.5 MSD wires. My question is what gear should I use? Some say 3.42 or 3.73 note this is my weekend fun car and my new hobby not an everyday car.

342's are better for overall driving but I run 373's in my 76 and it is strictly a weekend cruiser for the rod runs.

Yeah, I'd say either 342's or 373's would be just fine with your powerplant. I'd rather not gear any lower than 342's though, because at 75 mph your rpm's will be higher than you'd like.

I've got a Bronco with only a 302, and I'm going to be putting 35" tires on it. This would definately need regearing, but I'm opting not to change them from 3.55's because of my transmission choice. It all depends on your application. However, for you 342's should work perfectly.
