Tranny pan won't drop (70 Cutlass)

Really stupid question...

Removed all the bolts to my tranny pan and it seems to be getting stuck on the crossmember and I can't see to get it loose.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to move the crossmember!?

Thanks,
James

you are probably going to have to unbolt the crossmember and slide it forward an inch or so.

Did you brake the seal from the gasket. Take a small pry bar or screw driver get in between the transmission and pan and pry on the pan a little becarefull not to warp the pan.

Just went through the same issue last week...remove all bolts, carefully pry to break the seal, and let it pivot down as far as possible at the front, a little wiggling and it will come out!

Or you can loosen the mount and jack up the tailshaft a hair.
Install a drain plug kit while it's off.
