56 starter motor revs very slowly when hot

My 56 starts with a lot of energy and revings when the engine is cold. Battery is a full as it can get. Once the engine is hot, the starter motor is extremely slow and it sounds as if it revs like once before the battery dies.
Any idea what the reason for that could be?
Again, the battery is new, no deficiencies on that side....

Could be weak ground, or likely starter gets hot and has trouble. Might need a starter rebuild.

It sounds like the fields in the starter are grounded, or possibly the armature. Take a look at the starter as soon as you can. To drain a battery in one crank is a very heavy draw.

The battery does not get drained, the battery is fine and still the starter motor revs slowly.. The engine starts then, but it is always like praying: "Pls, pls start... "

I would definatly check battery cables and cable connections and then pull the starter. I would not continue attemptin to start with this condition

Also, lead timing may check too far advanced. This especially if the engine 'grunts' when cranking hot. Try holding it to 8° lead at timing mark on crankshaft until you get it figured out.

Measure the voltage at the battery and at the starter when this occurs.
