heater core replacement 64 super 88 w a/c

So i went to start putting dynamat the floors and found a small puddle on passenger floor board of coolant. So my manual doesnt really go much into this. Not sure where to start, im assuming the heater box comes out from the inside. I guess there is probably nuts on the engine firewall side holding it in place. Has anyone done this that could give me some insight.

Your assumptions are correct. For how to instructions go here http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/membe...ection_15A.pdf

I see new heater cores on e-bay regularly for about $130.

Check out Fusicks and Kanter for the heater core. You should also check to see if you can get your old heater core repaired by a local radiator shop.

I replaced mine about 4 years ago with one from Orileys Autoparts. It was around $65. I just checked their site for a 64 year with AC, and it was $49. Of course, these new cores aren't brass like the originals.

Well i got it out, i bent the upper passenger side stud, should be able to heat and bend back, not really sure how i could have gotten it out with out bending it. Does any one have any idea on what to replace the old seal? between heater box and fire wall, this one is just mush, i was thinking dynamat, both sides not really sure. Also going to try and find the vacuum, pots, ones got the input nipple busted off. Im sure getting it back in is going to be worse.

Just think how much fun it would be with A/C. Feel better?

It does have a/c. Unless you meant the evaporator core, Im not sure what you mean.

The gasket material is Permagum, you can buy it in strips, like rope or in larger chunks and mold it in your hands to usable size.

Man I gotta start wearing my glasses. I thought your title meant without.

I would think the dynamat will make a good gasket.
