Question would there be any interest in 66 dynamic 88 convert parts?

complete car, body rotted, i have a line on one locally, but i think the guy wants too much. complete car, ok interior, hasn't run in 2 years, sits outside, top looks ok......if it was a pontiac i'd own it already..

is the engine desireable? (425)

hate to buy it part it and get stuck w/the parts....thanks, eric

If the 425 is rebuildable its worth 200, good gas tank 100 or so. Trans maybe worth 75 bucks. Body parts have little demand and if interior is shot forget it. Dash pad worth maybe a 100 if good. Stainless trim and bumpers if good worth a few$$ . I would say 500 bucks tops and ya may get 750 back. The demand is few and far between.

Hate to say it, but 800 seems to be the new, 500 this election year. Every time Bernanke talks about more printing, the scrap metal prices keep going way up, and everyone wants top dollar without having to lift a finger.

It takes a LOT of work and makes a big mess, when dismantling a car, but you're supposed to do it for free, didn't you hear? LOL.

I'd be interested in that 425 if you end up getting the car.

The salvage yards have it right..... in the business aspect.
They pay out $350 for any/everything, make back their tow $gas on whatever parts sell in a month or 2, crush it, and make twice what they paid in scrap at the end.

That's pretty awesome, but when you see a nice old car in the crush line, it's like having to watch a baby crawl into a bear trap.

HEY
it would all depend on what you needed, becasue i need nothing off of it. just going to part it for profit. there would have to be enough left to make it worth my while. he's not willing to go less than 800 i guess, and haven't heard from him in 2 weeks.

Count me in on that motor if it is complete and isn't a waterlogged turd. It will be a 45 degree lifter bank angle motor, which is less desirable, but the crank and rods are great parts to work with. If the pan or the cylinders have water in them though, It won't even be worth the gas money I'll cross my fingers.

So If I buy $200 worth of crap off of it, and Oldsrocket buys $100 worth of crap.... You're looking at $450 in scrap+our $300. So that puts you at -$50 so far ..... -$80 if you count the $30 worth of sawzall blades you're going to ruin.....getting closer to worthwhile at least.

Maybe I should call him and offer $400. This way he'll figure he had better take your offer before they get even lower....

Interesting to listen to you guys talk about my car...and how to get it. You guys are funny.

I did have other offers. The last one was 1500...no questions asked. Didn't do it and removed it from CL. I just couldn't sell the thing.

It runs fine when I finally got over there and replaced the battery.

I could use some advice(constructive) during the resto....I know its rough but I got two small kids and this is gonna be my hobby for a time.

Yeah, my wife REALLY thinks I shoulda taken that 1500...and I would have...but, then I would have no convertible, and no ability to buy, or justify, getting another. You see what I'm working with...I'm a poor man.

I just started looking for info when I decided not to sell the thing. And, this site IS awesome.

Well, most of us here want to see as many of these STAY on the road, instead if stripping them down, so I'm sure if your gonna keep it, this is the best place to get info...and maybe even parts! I'm sure there are a lot of "piles of parts" we have that can help your 66 come back to life.

Welcome

Are you sure a 67 seat is the same as a 66? I need to look and see if I saved my 66 conv seat when I parted it.

Well I do have the rear seats out of a 66 Delta Conv of course the padding and covers are poor and I believe there is a speaker grill center on the top of back seat that is missing. You need to see if they will fit your 67, no sense for a lot of expense and getting something that won't work...
