Couldn't have done it without you kids

MAN!!!!! That was some work. Two years, many monies, many minutes. As close to a frame-off as a guy could get. 68 442 swapped-in 455, front discs, all new brake and fuel lines, swapped out a 2bbl for a 4bbl, new timing chain, water pump, all new bushings, shocks, springs, posi rear, all new sound deadening, carpet, new interior.

I gotta say, this thing drives like a dream! No squeaks, no rattles. Engine and Trans overhaul this fall. This site is incredible! The Olds knowledge is unbelievable. So many thanks. I'll be leaning in this knowledge in the Fall. Until then, see you on the road!

Nice work, now lets get that exhaust to go through the bumper cutouts.

Hahaha! Funny, I have the trumpets and an appointment today at a good custom exhaust shop nearby , but weather had other plans. I've tried to stick to OE or OE Repop parts. I just assumed I would let this guy use generic hangers, but I might just order some Olds hangers and do it myself instead. The issue is the driver side exhaust pipe doesn't want to move all of the way to the cutouts. Maybe I'll stick a long landscape prybar in the pipe and see what I can make happen.

Is there a stock trumpet tip exposure, or am I to make it flush to the bumper?

Sweet looking car. It's definitely a rare site to see an Olds on the road in Utah.

Looks great!! They repop the original style trumpet type hangers now. I tried before I got them to use generic hangers and they moved around too much. Everyone seems to have their own opinion on how far trumpets stick out. I put mine where the trumpet angle matched the angle of the bumper about maybe 1" or so out. I personally hate when thy stick out a long ways (2-3 "). Good job!!!

Olds documented proper location of the trumpet tip in relation to the bumper in one of the factory books. I want to say the assembly manual but I'm sure someone here will correct me if that's wrong. Their standard placement locates them further out than you might expect. To me, they look better closer to the bumper than too far out. You don't see too many these days with the "proper" placement.

Mopars and Chebbies.
Funny how, so far, most folks say, "Nice GTO."
Oh well, I'm a bit unusual here in Utah too.
Thanks for the kind words.

I ride a Chief Vintage Indian Motorcycle. Too many people have asked me what year & model is my Harley Davidson - I can relate.

Appreciate ya. Still lots of itty bitty shitty stuff to wrap up, but it needed to get back on the road. It sure does growl when those secondaries get sucked open. Pretty sure my #1 rings have blow past the useful lifespan based on how much oil is growing on the spark electrode. It will overheat with an ambient temp over 65f. I can limp it along long enough to have some fun. "Upgrading"/updating along the way. Appreciate the kind words.

Hahaha. I like having unique stuff. Car isn't rare by any means, but at most there may be 5141 others out there. I like that. Take care
