1984 olds 98 and delta 88 comparasion
I currently own a 85 olds delta 88 coupe and I’m purchasing a 1984 98 coupe and I was wondering what the differences between them were chassis wise. I know the 88 is a b body and the 98 is a c body but are the frames similar? I know the lug patterns are different but are the rear ends interchange able? I have a disc brake rear from a 90’s caprice I was gonna put in my 88 but would it fit the 98?

The primary difference is a 3" longer wheelbase on the Ninety Eight. The basic frame is the same otherwise. Suspension is the same. The heavier Ninety Eights got the bigger brakes (12" front rotors and 11x2" rear drums) as standard equipment. These larger brakes were optionally available on the D88s with the HD suspension and brake package (primarily used on police/taxi applications, and Custom Cruiser wagons). Also, the heavier Ninety Eights tended to use the 8.5" rear axles vs. the 7.5" used on the D88, but the whole housing will swap.
Body-wise the Ninety Eight and D88 are identical from the front doors forward, with the obvious exceptions of trim, grills, and options like cornering lights. Shocks and steering parts all interchange as well.
