Trying Tire sizes for a 1966 98 with 15" wheels
Gang,
Thought I'd cross post here for 98 owners. Right now my 66 98 convertible is running 15x7 with a size of 235/75 R15.
Today I tested 245/60 R15 on a 15x8 wheel with 4.00" offset. It did not fit under the fender skirt with enough clearance to warrant further investigation.
Here's the post under the general discussion:

Opinions from 98 owners solicited with great interest.

Chris, I had to do a double take. I almost combined your 66 98 thread into your 66 Starfire thread.
Here's a good tire size calculator that allows you to visualize the size difference between tire sizes.
https://tiresize.com/comparison/
For my 71 98, the factory put J78s on it. That's equivalent to 235/75R15s. I had seen a good comparison chart for old tire sizes vs. new tire sizes but can't seem to find one now. Probably I provided a link in an older thread. Anyways...
When I bought tires for my 98 years ago it was difficult finding a 235/75R15 that wasn't a knobby SUV tire. We're sort of limited on what tires we can run on our land yachts. Don't forget that if you change the tire size it will effect your speedometer. I don't think adjusting the speedo on old B/C body Oldsmobiles is a simple task since it runs off of the front hub.
