Omega-should I?

Omega-should I?
Came across what I believe to be a 77 Omega, while looking for parts to my 65 Delta. Owner told me it belonged to a kid who tried to do a manual conversion then stopped. Block is there, no intake, etc. I talked him down to $750 if he pulls the "350". My research tells me only the following were available:231,260,305.
Is this worthwhile?
What engines would fit?

Anything made by GM, given the right mounts. The front subframe and suspension shares quite a bit with the second gen F-body. Note that there's already someone on this site looking for 403 T/A engine brackets to swap a 455 into one of these. I would also check the availability of patch panels before committing to buy.

That would be my take, use the money to fix what you have.

Those years, except for grille/nose and taillights, whatever fits a Nova of same bodystyle fits the other X-body cars. So a quarter glass and sheetmetal shouldn't be all that hateful to find. Interior might prove to be the problem. WIth the right mounts, an Olds 350 or 403 would be a natural for that car.
Little finance car lot here has a 74 Nova coupe that is in really decent condition except interior- the cloth seats are dryrotted and trashed. It's a 6-cylinder automatic and it's that light metallic green GM slathered on everything in the early 70s. I think the guy wants a bit much for it, but the thought has crossed my mind to save it, WITH THE 6-CYLINDER. I know what he's angling for, is some yahoo sees a Nova and wants to stick the ubiquitous and boring GM 350 crate in it along with a set of Chevy rally wheels.
And I'd keep it 6-powered with the wheelcovers and whitewalls just to **** off the Chevy crowd around here.

They make quarter skins for the Nova which would work for the lower portion. The only difference from the Nova quarter is around the taillight. Front fenders are the same as all the X-body 75-79 cars. The interior plastic pieces are supposed to be available from Classic Industries.

Big Block slids right in!
Most panels are the same as any other x-bodies. I have 1 Nova fender and both quarter panels from a Nova. My subframe came from a 75 Nova because it had Manual steering and manual disc brakes. The 455 slid right in and I welded the motor mount pads to the frame. (knowing there would be nothing but a 455 in the engine bay for me anyway) Just dropped the trany mount in the crossmember and welded the front mount pads to the frame! Done!!!!!!!!!!!! 68-72 Cutlass headers bolt right in and clear fine! 1 7/8" primary tube headers worked fine on the street with 3" exhaust out the back. I like the 73-74 Omega but didn't care for rear steer I prefer the front steer for header clearance and handling.
