REmoving Tire Protection Coating

Just got new T/A Radials. I don't ever remembering having trouble removing the blue coating on the letters. I thought the last time it did it, I just washed it off. Did not work good today, had to use Lacquer thinner, and 409, and still not easy. what do you guys use?

Years ago I used Westley's Blech White and a nylon scrub brush. Last time I used Comet cleanser and a nylon scrub brush.

I've always used S.O.S. steel wool soap pads. Work great.

Same here.
I have heard hot water helps; however, I have not tried that yet.

My tire guy recommended Black Magic Bleche-Wite and it worked perfectly.

I used Bleche White on the white walls on my 96 98. It works great.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned a whitewall tire brush. Maybe nobody carries them anymore. They are similar to a BBQ grill brush but smaller. Here is a link to one on Amazon.

I believe the blue film you're referring to is a mold release agent to make it easier to remove the tire from the mold after the rubber cures. It doesn't just 'wash off'. You'll have to scrub it pretty good to get all of it off. Any of the above methods should work.

I never had any problem using 409 or Fantastik and a nylon brush.
