Thanks for the compliments..I was hesitant to give up the Salon Hubcaps, as they're not seen much.
But I do have to admit the Rallys do get more attention.

Y 76 regional special edition car. Your car has the half vinyl top with smaller quarter windows, argent painted wheels and the chrome sport mirrors, indicators it is a y76. Cool car and fairly rare.
Here's a link explaining a little about it. https://y76cutlass.com/y76
I had a link to another page that better explains all the Y76 equipment but can't find it anymore. I think it disappeared with the 73-77olds.com site. RIP
You should register your car here.

Thanks man I had no knowledge of the y76. I'll look into it and I'll go ahead and register it.

I have not posted for a long time, and I may not again.
But I have noticed (or not noticed) something that I thought I would comment on. The last year for TRUE dual exhaust on a 73-77 Cutlass was 1974. The 75-77 transmission cross member was NOT made for dual exhaust and the right side of the cross member had a big "dog leg" to clear the catalytic converter. Even though dual exhaust was not common on the 73-74 models------------------THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER ON 73-74 MODELS HAD 2 HUMPS TO CLEAR BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT PIPES.
For the owner of 75-77 Cutlass that would like to have a FACTORY STYLE dual exhaust system, then a 73-74 cross member is a 100% pure bolt-on fit for a 75-77 Cutlass.
Once state inspections were no longer required ---------------------THANK YOU FORMER GOV FRANK KEATING----------------- in Okla, I rounded up a 74 cross member in a salvage yard, PLUS a true dual exhaust RIGHT side exhaust manifold (for those who may not know, RIGHT side single and dual manifolds are totally different), and had my favorite muffler guy fabricate a "factory style" dual exhaust system. Looks as if it was installed at a GM assembly plant!!!

When I rebuild the 455 a few years ago, I installed reproduction W30 style W and Z manifolds.

Hey Tom I'm surprised you stopped in again.(or that anyone does) It's been 5 years or so. I haven't been here in a while myself. I'm glad you found out about the 74 crossmembers. The 73-74 GM A bodies have the dual exhaust crossmembers and back when our cars were more plentiful in the wrecking yards I would always pull one if I came across it. I just thought it was common knowledge about them being a good factory backdated upgrade. I looked back through this thread and in 2016, 8 years ago it was talked about. Just reminds me its not always commonly known, even if I think it is and who is going to look back at this long thread (besides me) to see an 8 year old discussion about it. Thanks for the reminder, your exhaust system looks nice. If you do come back, do you have a picture of the tips where it exits under the back bumper? Thanks

I had my muffler guy duplicate the factory style tips as closely as possible.
I will try to remember to take and post pictures.

Here are the pictures from the rear.

Those straps tie the trailer hitch, where it is attached to the bumper, to the frame rails. My thinking was to transmit some of the pulling effort from the bumper to the frame. So far, no problems.

I sorta kinda did a similar thing to the Chevelle and the 56 Corvette. The trailer hitches on them are tied to the frame.

That is a 1/2in X 2in stainless bar that ties the trailer hitch to the frame.

This hitch is only attached to the rear cross member and is easily bolted on or unbolted.

Your tips look exactly like the ones a muffler shop cut on my pipes when I added duals. Thanks for the pictures.

Beautiful car. I had a cranberry red '74 Salon with a black top. Those are the most comfortable seats out there.
