72 Olds 98 More Pix of Nutmeg

Carb could use a refresh. Some more cleaning and detailing... older pic with points distributor.

Tiny Driver's Side

Side - we fit nicely in an empty parking lot.

Front LH - no parking zone.

Front RH - needs some paint correction and to install the fresh roof rail rubbers sleeping in their boxes since 1987.

Fancy Fins and got the quote to redo the bumper ouch...

Beautiful Olds! 😎

I'm glad to see another 4 door hardtop that wasn't ruined by demo derby. In my humble opinion they have a bit more class than the coupes.

Be cautious having chrome redone I had both bumpers on my 71 98 rechromed by Northstar Plating in Brained, MN for about $700/bumper. This was at least 10 years ago. They did a mediocre job. Unless you're on a Jay Leno budget I might suggest having your bumpers wrapped or powder coated. As long as they're structurally sound and your not doing a concours restoration.

I know what you mean...! I got one quote for $3600 holy smokes I don't think so.
The place I found will strip the bumper, repair the holes with metal and then do a quality triple plating job so its not all wavy and rippled...
I will have to save up and budget for that one. Its not so terrible as is at the moment.

I purchased a rear replacement bumper 4 years ago for $550 with shipping and need to get it rechromed. I got a quote from a plating service in Las Vegas for $700 but that was 5 years ago.
I've owned 2 coupes but never a 4 door, are they longer?
My dream was to own and driver a Custom Cruiser in the '71-72 years.

I believe the 2 and 4 doors are the same size = Gigantic... 227.8 inches
The Custom Cruiser is the same size. They must be a lot of fun with that tailgate and all those seats or cargo space.

Everything nowadays costs too much. Doesn't matter where.
Living in Canada prices are crazy and getting anything from the USA you need to factor in the USD exchange rate, ours is less plus duties and taxes and shipping etc...
So it becomes a luxury to do anything around these cars vs food on the table unless you are of course financially well off...

it only seems like it.
The 73 to 76 cars of course were only (4.4") longer because of the 5mph bumpers 232.2 inches vs 228 for the 71/72's
The 73 CustomCruiser had the 72 Rear End but new Front 5 mph bumpers...

The ones I've seen seem like it maybe beacause of all the side glass plus it was hauling a 20' Airstream travel trailer.

That's why I collect pre emmissions vehicles, simple to work on relatively, reliable, built with quality but hard for me to afford to maintain or I'd buy a '72 Custom Cruiser to go with my coupe and Toronado.

Nice pair you have there very nice.
You are right, the 98 cost me a fraction to put back on the road after 30 years in storage when compared to the maintenance of the Charger, the Dodge Dealer technicians don't know what they are doing and just diagnose the bill into insane amounts... then change out an expensive Mopar part like a PCV valve for hundreds of Dollars...!
Got myself a FIXD gadget and it works well reading those nonsense codes; being informed marching over to a mechanic when something goes astray helps a lot.
I would like to find a 2 door coupe to match my 4 door in the same colours.
Too many cars already.
